About

My name is Allison Martel. I currently serve as the Digital Technologies Librarian at Springfield College. I am a self-taught web designer who first came to academic libraries after a career in the insurance industry. I an enthusiastic collaborator who is passionate about implementing innovative technologies that will best meet our patrons’ needs. I love to teach students and faculty how to effectively utilize these systems in their work.

As a systems librarian, I have managed EZproxy, OCLC WorldShare Management Systems, OCLC WorldCat Discovery, and EZproxy among many others. As a web designer, I am proficient with Drupal, LibGuides CMS, and WordPress. I code in HTML, CSS, and jQuery.

Professionally, I am most interested in the accessibility and user experience of library interfaces, open educational resources, and scholarly communication.
